Artemisia
Landscape Architecture
Our basic design aim is the creation of beautiful spaces. Spaces to play in, entertain in, garden in, meditate in, stroll in or simply to be in.
We try to create in the garden, spaces of different characters and moods with varying degrees of enclosure and built elements.
These spaces flow logically and beautifully out of the built form, harmonising with the architecture and giving one a clear sense
of direction as one moves through the garden.
We believe that each site and each client is different, which is why we find it impossible to define any one ‘style’ for our designs.
Every site has its opportunities and its constraints. A rigorous study of the site, the existing & proposed architecture, the
microclimate and the client’s requirements lead to logical and informed design decisions. Any outstanding features on the
site often become the cues for our initial concept sketches.
We advocate and practice ecologically sensitive landscaping using water-harvesting techniques, the use of organic fertilisers
& pesticides, the use of mulches and innovative ways of using appropriate native plants and local materials.
We feel that it is our duty to leave the Earth a better place than we found it.
We aim to create a beautiful interface between the mechanical world we live in and the wonderful world of Nature.
